FiXar designed and built a Water Cooling Fixture for automotive fuel tanks. The fixture accurately supports and shapes the plastic fuel tank during the cooling process, ensuring dimensional stability, repeatability, and high production quality.
FiXar engineered and manufactured a fully customized Water Cooling Fixture for an automotive fuel tank production process. The fixture is designed to securely position the blow-moulded fuel tank immediately after production, maintaining its geometry while it cools in a water bath to achieve the required dimensional accuracy.
The realization features a precision-machined aluminium construction with upper and lower base plates, lightweight yet rigid support structures, adjustable support points, and multiple pneumatic clamping units that ensure repeatable positioning of every part. The base plates incorporate large flow openings, allowing unrestricted water circulation for uniform cooling while minimizing overall fixture weight.
To maximize flexibility and long-term usability, the fixture includes adjustable supports with interchangeable shims for fine-tuning, integrated water distribution blocks, quick pneumatic connections, and an ergonomic design for easy loading and unloading. All aluminium components are anodized for improved durability and corrosion resistance, making the fixture suitable for intensive production environments.
The completed fixture demonstrates FiXar’s expertise in designing high-precision production tooling that combines robust mechanical engineering, manufacturability, and ease of operation. From engineering and machining to assembly, documentation, testing, and final acceptance, the entire project was executed in-house, delivering a reliable solution tailored to the customer’s production process.
