Collaborative robotic tightening station designed for the automated assembly of automotive seating components, combining precision fastening, automated screw feeding, and advanced quality control.
FiXar developed an automated cobot tightening station for the assembly of automotive seating systems, specifically designed for fastening side valance components to electronic modules. The solution combines collaborative robotics, intelligent part verification, and automated screw handling to achieve a highly reliable and efficient assembly process.
The station features an automatic screw feeding system in which fasteners are supplied through a bowl feeder and delivered directly to a custom-designed robotic end effector. This ensures continuous operation, reduces manual intervention, and improves cycle time consistency.
To eliminate assembly errors, the products are positioned in dedicated poka-yoke fixtures that guarantee correct placement and orientation of the components. Multiple sensors and smart vision cameras verify that the correct product combination has been loaded before the tightening sequence is initiated. This integrated quality control approach helps prevent assembly mistakes and ensures full process traceability.
The collaborative robot performs the tightening operations with high precision and repeatability, delivering consistent assembly quality while supporting safe interaction with operators. The combination of automated fastening, intelligent verification, and error-proof fixturing results in a reliable and efficient production process.
By integrating cobot technology, automated screw feeding, machine vision, and poka-yoke principles, FiXar delivered a smart assembly solution that enhances productivity, quality assurance, and process reliability in automotive seat manufacturing.
